Ancient Peruvian Ceramics Essays - Andean Civilizations, Cupisnique
Old Peruvian Ceramics The first stoneware pieces found in Peru were made somewhere close to 1500 and 1000 b.p. The pieces were found in the focal Andean locale where a strict religion lived. This faction was called Chav?n, after the most popular stylized focus, Chav?n de Hu?ntar. The strict focus was the home to gigantic sanctuaries that were exceptionally decorated with low alleviation models of divine beings, creatures, and images. The ceramics found in the zone where vessels that were all around made and profoundly finished with a comparable theme as the sanctuaries. In any case, the advancement of Peruvian ceramics turns out to be to some degree befuddling and complex after this first human progress of potters. There is a division of individuals into the North Coast and the South Coast. The split made two styles of stoneware, albeit comparative, they never fully consolidate. I am just going to discuss the north coast customs. On the North coast there are five societies that develop into the predominant Mochica style, which was one of the most lively and prosperous societies of Ancient Peru. The following soonest North Coast style, other than the Chav?n, began with the Cupisnique individuals in the Chicama valley. Their pottery firmly looked like those of good country Chav?n. They were very much made and cleaned, however to some degree thick walled and substantial. The kind of terminating utilized delivered a dim semireduced product that differed from tanish dark to carbon dark in shading. Enrichment comprised of intense, curvilinear human, cat, and winged creatures of implore heads, eye designs, pelt markings, and other brief images of geometric gadgets. In the valley toward the south of the Cupisnique were the Salinar individuals who at some point during the fifth century b.p. moved into the north bank of Peru and spread its impact all through the Cupisnique territory. Salinar ceramics, however misleadingly crude in ornamentation, was mechanically better than that of the Cupisnique. Vessels were made of solid and steady muds that were completely oxidized in terminating, making them an even orange shading. Cream and red slips were utilized to complement sculptural structures and make level geometric examples, yet not to draw metaphorical themes. The specialized advances of the controlled oxidation terminating and slip beautification before long had their impact on contemporary Cupisnique pottery. Personally, I delighted in the container structures they utilized with their twofold tie handles that lead from the shoulder of the structures to the one focal spout. (see figures 1 and 2). This style of vessel appears to proceed consistently. Three different societies in north coast valleys contributed their stoneware style to the over all Cusisnique style that was developing into the Mochica style. These individuals were the Gallinazo, Recuay, what's more, Vic?s. The Gallinazo built twofold chamber vessels with whistle spouts what's more, a sort of adornment called negative improvement where they painted their straightforward structures on after the pieces were terminated. The Recuay additionally had twofold chamber vessels yet these made them work spout and one etched, normally an creature or figure. They additionally utilized negative design yet theirs were significantly more expound structures than the Gallinazo vessels. The Vic?s lived in the good countries on the Ecuadorian outskirt. They made extremely sculptural vessels with a stirrup handle and focal spout. (see figures 3, 4, and 5) Although a handfull of Vic?s curios have been discovered, not much is thought about these individuals, however one can see an obvious association between these various societies and the Mochica style that advanced out of them. The Mochica human advancement thrived for almost 1000 years and as time passed slight changes in the style could be seen and are sequentially isolated into Mochica I-V. The initial two are developmental stages with bunches of experimentation. The third focused on a particular workmanship style, which proceeded through the forward and progressively declined in the fifth. They communicated numerous parts of their way of life and every day life in their pottery. Things like warriors, sprinters (individuals who run packs of beans were critical to the stylized life), representations, religion, divine beings, and creatures were appeared on vessels. Mochica I was a solid continuation of the late Cupisnique sculptural style. The structures are minimal with little recommendation of activity, and subtleties are regularly rendered in etched lines. Appearances are summed up, however singular personages are separated by ensemble and embellishments, and by particular physical attributes. The style was not extremely intricate. Some slip painting was done and the straightforward plans were some of the time highlighted by chiseled lines. The plans are like those of the Salinar, yet they some of the time utilized the geometric structures of the Recuay. In Mochica II they aced the specialty of slip beautification and oxidation terminating. The ornamentation

QS World MBA Tour Exclusive Tips from Top MBA
The QS World MBA Tour is coming to a city near you starting today September 9 in Santiago and Taipei. It continues with events throughout North American, Europe, the Middle East, India, Asia, and Latin America. In addition to the traditional MBA fair and booths, The World MBA Tour offers Connect 1-2-1, a program where you can register for an individual time meeting with admissions directors at leading schools. Top MBAs Nunzio Quacquarelli graciously provided us with an exclusive interview to help you prepare for the upcoming QS World MBA Tours. 1. How should applicants prepare for a fair so that they can get the most out of the event? Its important that applicants know why they are there and what the most important questions are. After all, they can impress potential business school admissions officers with targeted questions. Admissions officers at the QS World MBA Tour most often complain about candidates who ask questions like Whats an MBA? and How hard is the GMAT? By visiting TopMBA.com and narrowing down options, doing some research and knowing something about the top business schools you want to talk to (and why) a candidate will stand out above a large percentage of their competitors. Also, bring a CV with a photo so that the admissions people, who may meet thousands of candidates, can far more easily associate a face with a name. Business cards can help too. 2. What are reasonable goals for spending a few hours at an MBA fair? Candidates should come out with a much better idea of what business school can offer them, and which schools are most appropriate for them. They should get an idea of what duration (one or two years) might suit them better, what specializations they can consider, how they could get funding and so on. However dont expect an offer of a place at business school at an MBA fair. Realistically to make a good contact at a handful of schools and then follow up those contacts is the best bet, as well as taking some schools off your shortlist that do not suit you. 3. What should applicants do while at the fair to get the most out of it? There is an entire article devoted to this on topmba.com, but if I can summarise: get there early and see who is where on the planning sheet; prepare by visiting topmba.com first and draw up a list of criteria that you personally want including what you hope to get out of an MBA and future plans; focus on realistic options for you, rather than just the big name schools attending; map out questions in advance and try and make them relevant asking what does MBA stand for? wont impress anyone; dont overload admissions officers as they are busy and prepare an elevator pitch so that you can tell them all about you in less than two minutes; dont just focus on admissions officers as there may well be school alumni at some tables to talk to; look the part by leaving your shorts and flip flops at home; consider your funding options in advance so that representatives know where you stand in that regard; use the information sessions such as the pre-fair Master classes and panel discussions; e valuate the schools and trust your instincts and, finally, relax and enjoy yourself! 4. How much time should an applicant try to grab with a school representative at a fair? They should try and grab as much as possible with the appropriate schools and the minimum possible with the others, which is why preparation is the key. Theres no point in chatting with a school that is renowned for its strength in marketing if you have zero interest in marketing, for example. If a school admission officer thinks you are appropriate for their school, and they for you, they will naturally give you more time. However they have to see perhaps over a hundred people so you will probably get about five minutes with them. These people are experts and if they sense that there is a good fit then they will get your contact details, give you theirs and follow up for a longer phone or email conversation at a later date. QS Connect 1-2-1 was created to address this issue. Serious candidates are invited to attend 30-minute sessions with admissions directors. Look at www.topmba.com/connect for further details of this. 5. Is it appropriate to ask for a business card and to contact the representative after a fair? Absolutely. In fact the QS World MBA Tour has a system, called Outreach, where each candidate is given a number, which the representative can note down and then access all of the candidates details at the press of a button. If there is a good fit then they can get in touch easily. But yes, taking their contact details is fine. 6. What are common mistakes applicants make when participating in MBA fairs? You cant really make mistakes as such but we commonly see a lack of preparedness; an assumption that school reps are there only to see them as an individual; spending too long talking with schools that are inappropriate for them; asking questions that prove they arent serious candidates I have had to explain, for example, the difference between an MBA and the National Basketball Association, or to a candidate who asked which school could help him get a job as a pilot; getting there too late to see the schools they want to see. But the key word is preparation. 7. What is appropriate attire? There is no dress code whatsoever. However Hawaiian shirts and flip flops might fool some admissions officers into thinking that you are not a serious candidate 8. How does the Top MBA Connect 1-2-1 complement the traditional circulating among tables and booths done at most MBA fairs? Connect 1-2-1 is the next step for those candidates who have already attended a large scale MBA fair, or who would like to submit applications within the next 6 months. You get up to half an hour of quality time with admissions directors on a one-to-one basis, no crowds, no queues. Whats more, as these are pre-matched events, you know the schools are already interested in you, so its your chance to make a great impression in an uninterrupted environment, maximising your chances of being offered a place. Its also a great forum to get in-depth information about what a school can offer you, not to mention great interview practice. If you are a serious applicant, these events are perfect for you, we have many previous attendees who have been offered places at their top schools after attending. You can find out more and submit your online registration at www.topmba.com/connect.

System Security Monitoring - 1154 Words
System Security Monitoring UOPX CMGT/442 November 5, 2012 Henry Rivera Jr. Every organization has risks and it is extremely critical for them to identify what these risks are and to mitigate and avoid further damages in case of disastrous events. These disastrous events can be prevented by designing and implementing a robust security monitoring system and utilizing industry proven practices and activities. Information Security refers to safety of information in terms of confidentiality, integrity, availability, and non-repudiation (Byrnes amp; Proctor, 2002). This document will provide a clear definition about the security monitoring activities that should be designed and conducted in an organization that has both internal andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The state monitoring can cover the analysis of security policies, access controls put in place, password requirements, network security controls, permissions, viruses, and inappropriate files such as unnecessary image, music, videos, and other multimedia files. The system must also be able to examine any workstationââ¬â¢s current installed applications and determine whether or not updated versions exist. Any unnecessary or redundant data from the logs must be extracted out as well. Security monitoring does not just stop at the monitoring level. The security system must be able to protect the data collected from the security monitoring system itself. Any vulnerabilities and holes will leave the security monitoring system ineffective and render it useless, especially in cases of modification and tampering. Tampered data will never result to meaningful conclusions. Activity data must be confidential and regarded as sensitive. The system must be able to compare negative and positive data and figure out which priority levels are given to each data and event. Another important aspect is that the security monitoring systems and activities do not hinder or get in the way of the business operations (Fry, amp; Nystrom, 2009). In an event of intrusion or security disaster, a security audit must be put into action immediately to avoid further damages. The selection of the variables as dependent variable and independent variable is done based in their importance. Literature review The concept of transformational leadership involves the style of leadership where the leaders and subordinates work hand in hand to identify the changes needed in the organisation (Mittal and Dhar 2015). This type of leadership is essential to create the vision and guide the changes by inspiring and executing the changes. Building of brand image is very important to draw customers and enhance the business of the company. As per the viewpoint of DuBrin (2015), Elfin Cars is the company that manufactures sports cars and motor racing cars. This Australian manufacturing company had been operating since 1957 and it was founded by Garrie Cooper (Xie et al. 2016). According to the viewpoint of Wallace et al. (2013), the cars manufactured by Elfin Cars are for the sports persons who are into the sports of motor racing and the people who are fascinated about sports cars. Choosing the proper target market enhances the sell of any company. Targeting the customers who are into motor racing and people who are fascinated about the sports cars are the main aim of the company (Matanda and Ewing 2012). Choosing the proper target market and marketing the cars of Elfin Cars to the chosen target market using the appropriate strategies helps to enhance the business of the company. Framing of the appropriate strategies is the most essential aspect in this case. A leader alone cannot frame the appropriate strategy for any company. Discussing with the subordinates and involving employees in framing the strategies would provide various ideas and the best idea for the business of the company would come out from the discussion (Xie et al. 2016). As per the viewpoint of Hankinson (2012), it was seen that the transformational style of leadership helps the management of the company to identify the changes needed in the company and the appropriate decisions to implement the changes in their business. The style of transformational leadership is found to be advantageous for the company as well. The employees and subordinates who are considered while identifying the changes required in the company and creating the vision, which would guide the changes get motivated to perform their jobs and it makes them feel important for the company. The employees and subordinates feel motivated and they get encouraged to perform their work properly. As per the viewpoint of Cameron and Green (2015), transformational leadership enhances the job performance of the followers by various mechanisms. The leader becomes the role model of the followers, inspires them to perform their work and raise their interest in any project, thereby enhancing the per formance of the task. In the modern world, every organisation has the constant state of flux and they experience changes in a large scale. This makes the guidance of the visionary leadership an important one for the success of any business. The need of managers and leaders in any organisation is important as they help the employees to develop the zeal and commitment towards their work (Matanda and Ewing 2012). By using behavioural and personality characteristics like charisma, the ability of high influence and extended vision the managers and leaders of the organisation encourage their employees to perform their task efficiently. Similarly in the business of manufacturing sports cars, the managers and leaders should motivate and encourage their employees to perform their jobs effectively (Bouckenooghe et al. 2015). This influence and motivation helps the employees of Elfin Cars to manufacture better cars and understand the demands of the customers. As per the viewpoint of Lhndorf and Diamantopoulos (2014), the sports cars should have the best technologies, equipments and mechanisms in their cars in order to compete in the business of sports cars. Elfin Cars have various others competitors like Toyota, Ford and other companies in this industry who manufactures efficient sport cars (Wallace et al. 2013). They provide tough competition to Elvin Cars, though the company is an old and popular sports cars manufacturing industry. According to the viewpoint of Vlachos et al. (2013), Elvin cars had been one of them most successful sports car makers and they had been the champions for 29 times and major Grand Prix titles. British racing driver, Tom Walkinshaw currently owns Elfin Cars and he performs in the motor race with their cars. Transformational style of leadership of this company had helped them to win these major titles of championships and give the best performance in the racing events. Transformational style of leadership had motivated the employees of the company and they had been completely dedicated towards the company while performing their work (Hackman and Johnson 2013). The leaders of Elfin Cars had involved their subordinates and other employees while conducting discussions on the sports cars. The employees and subordinates had provided their valuable information regarding the use of technologies in manufacturing the sports cars. The employees and subordinates of Elfin Cars had also helped their leaders to decide the best technology and materials that could be used for their cars (Vlachos et al. 2013). According to the viewpoint of Bouckenooghe et al. (2015), the leaders and managers of the company had included the employees and sub ordinates of their company while analysing the performance of th e cars of Elfin Cars and had asked them for the suggestions regarding the changes. This had encouraged the employees of the company and had motivated the employees to put up their best performance for the company. As per the viewpoint of Mittal and Dhar (2015), Elfin Cars and their managers, leaders and employees had made their company a successful one in the sports cars manufacturing industry. The style of transformational leadership had helped the company to get the best ideas from the experts of the company, which includes the employees and subordinates of the company apart from the leaders. It had also helped them to bond as a better team and put up their best performance during the sports events. This team performance had helped the company to win maximum Grand Pix championships and other championships over the years (Kapferer 2012). Thus, the style of transformational style of leadership is seen to increase the satisfaction level of the employees and they tend to contribute their best in manufacturing of the sports cars and framing the effective strategies for the business of the cars. This leadership style had also seen to encourage the employees and create the best team and put up the best team performance to succeed in their business (Hackman and Johnson 2013). However, the role of transformational leadership in building the good brand image of the company Elfin Cars is to be studied in the assignment. The impact of this leadership style on the performance of Elfin Cars in the motor races and the sales of the cars manufactured by the company would also be studied in this research. Methodology Data collection process The methods of collection of data to understand the role of transformational leadership in creating the brand image of Elfin Cars would involve survey methods. The impact of transformational leadership on the brand image of the Elfin Cars would be studied usin g quantitative methods of research. Sampling The methods of sampling would involve surveying 30 samples with the help of questionnaire. Close-ended questions would be asked to the samples and the method of non-probability sampling would be used for convenient sampling. Quantitative methods and Likert scale would be used in the questionnaire to collect the data. Data analysis tools The analysis tool that would be used to analyse the collected data is SPSS. Proper management of data in satisfactory manner would be done using the tools of SPSS. The reliability of the collected data would be checked at first. After conducting the reliability test of the collected data, correlation would be conducted between the dependent variable and the independent variable. The test of correlation would be done to perform the hypothesis test. The value of correlation would be used to accept or reject the hypothesis of the research. Ethical considerations The primary data would be collected for the research by the methods of survey. The researcher must not force the respondents to provide responses to the questionnaire. The researcher must also take the consent of the respondents prior to the use of the data collected through their responses. If the respondent objects in using their responses, the researcher must abide by the decision. The researcher should not alter the responses of the respondents. He should use the responses as provided by the respondents in his research. The researcher must clearly state the aim and purpose of the survey to the respondents prior to conducting the survey. The researcher must be patient and must not harm the respondents during the survey. The researcher must not alter the responses during using them for the research. The identity of the respondents must be kept confidential during the research and the researcher must not attempt to reveal the identity during the research. Gantt chart Week 1 Week 6 Week 10 Week 12 Week 14 Introduction Literature review Data collection Data analysis Expected outcome Table 1: Gantt chart of the research (Source: created by author) Expected research outcome It is expected that the leadership style of transformational leadership had helped the company, Elfin Cars to succeed in their business. The management of the company is expected to create a better bonding among the employees, managers and leaders of the company. It was seen that Elfin Cars had been the winners of various championships of motor race including Grand Pix events. This might be the positive impact of the transformational leadership that the managers and leaders of the company follow in their work. It is expected that the employees of the company and the leaders regard the leaders and managers of the company as the role model and managers of the company inspire the employees to put on their best effort in making their business a successful one. Thus, it is expected that there is significant relationship between transformational leadership strategies and good branding image of Elfin Cars. Taming the Hulk free essay sample
Prompt: How have you grown and developed over the years? In just about ten minutes, I had gone from being composed to being a complete wreck. My vision was blurring. My mouth was dry. I was sweating profusely. Words were tumbling out faster than I could process them. I felt a deep anger slowly rise up and take control of my mind. The guy in front wasnââ¬â¢t in much better shape. Neither of us liked where this discussion was headed, but we were both too stubborn to give up. No, we werent drunk. We were simply two eight graders with differing opinions on politics. In middle school I loved to argue for the sake of arguing, even if I didnââ¬â¢t make much sense. The satisfaction I derived in ââ¬Å"provingâ⬠my equally illogical peers wrong was a compelling force. I blame this whole phase and my ensuing passion for learning on my childhood. We will write a custom essay sample on Taming the Hulk or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Freud would be proud. I was born in a Paris hospital known for giving birth to the most immigrant babies. Yet my parents were both French as could be. At the age of four, my father died, though I was still too young to really notice. For three years, my mother juggled her career as an international journalist and my education. I suffered from periodical fits of rage that well informed psychiatrists attributed to a backfiring of the Oedipus Complex, which made my motherââ¬â¢s life all the more difficult. Otherwise, I had the childhood of a typical Parisian boy, visiting museums with my class, betting marbles at recess, and practicing judo on Wednesdays. At seven, my mom married an American engineer who subsequently adopted me. With a new dad beside me, I left my friends behind and moved to Texas, the land of cowboys and Indians. However, unbeknownst to me, the years of Billy the Kid and Sitting Bull were long gone, and I arrived to discover Houston, the city of big highways, big cars, and big houses. The culture shock was huge. Children adapt easily though, and within three years, I was speaking comprehensible English, wearing my cowboy hat proudly, and pledging allegiance to the flag enthusiastically. But many of my peers found it hard to accept this French kid. I grew ashamed of my origins, silently wishing that my quiche and creme pistache lunches would transform into pizza or burgers. The anti-French wave that swept the nation following Dominique de Villepainââ¬â¢s UN speech condemning the Iraq War didnââ¬â¢t facilitate relations at school either. Not even ultimately obtaining my American nationality silenced my persecutors. With this backdrop of failed integration, I went on the offensive in middle school, becoming overly outspoken about my origins, my beliefs, and my newfound interest in politics. Of course, most of my opinions and argument were poorly researched, a patchwork of my parentââ¬â¢s dinner conversations, the nightly news, and childhood fantasies. My opponents were not much better equipped, and for three years, I was a dissafectionate force of political, ethnical, philosophical reckoning. With time, I grew tired of alienating others. I began to wonder about what made people tick. Why were my adversaries unlike me; what differentiated us? More importantly, what did they really believe? More slowly than before, I began to transform, searching less for conflict and more for knowledge. In my history classes, I became notorious for pestering my accommodating teachers with socially analytical questions not directly relevant to our state mandated curriculum. My English teachers generously stayed after class to satiate my literary curiosity. When the opportunities arose, I immersed myself in different cultures to better understand them. Despite warnings that curiosity killed the cat, I rushed headlong into the teaming sea of worldly discovery. I still enjoy lively discussions about politics, religion, and society, but the joy of convincing others has been replaced with that of exchange and learning. My interests have only grown in the last few years and the people Iââ¬â¢ve met, the books Iââ¬â¢ve read, and the topics have researched are numerous. Nonetheless, the world is overflowing with mysteries and my brain still has a lot of unused space. Turning to the future, I find myself confronted with the realities of professional prospects and monetary necessities. So much emphasis is placed on financial success that I often worry that my educational focus will be too narrow and so much will remain unknown. My hope is that college will be the alternative, a sanctuary of higher learning in all reaches of life. For now, I am divided by a question of utter importance: should I choose The Life and Select Works of Thomas Jefferson or The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian for my bedside reading?
